Book the nine o'clock slot, walk the Gallery of Honour while it is still quiet, stand a while in front of the Night Watch — then come back for eggs. Breakfast runs to noon precisely for mornings like this.

Herons, rose gardens, and half of Amsterdam on a sunny Sunday. Take one of our bicycles and a breakfast roll; in autumn, go for the chestnut trees alone.

Narrow streets, hidden courtyards, Saturday's Noordermarkt and the best apple pie in the city (we will mark the café on your map). Take the bikes — it is the neighbourhood they were built for.
