Meridiaan keeps house in a row of 1680s canal houses on a bend of the Meridiaangracht, stitched together by crooked stairs and an unreasonable number of reading chairs.
Mornings are long here: breakfast until noon, coffee on the sill, boats idling past the window. The city waits — Dam Square, the Jordaan and the museums are all within a twenty-minute walk.
